First Presbyterian Church in Plano has been around for a long time, long enough, in fact to have one of those cool “Historical Markers” erected out front! If you visit FPC Plano you will be welcomed by a group of great people who are genuinely doing their best to live the life that Christ has called them to live. We’d love to have you visit, but to be fair, FPC Plano may not be the Church that’s right for you. Here’s a few reasons why:
- If you’re looking for big screens, smoke machines, and skinny jeans to guide your worship experience, you may be disappointed with FPC Plano. There’s none of that, instead you’ll find uplifting music, genuine fellowship, positive Biblical sermons, scripture reading, prayer, Holy Communion, and a pretty healthy dose of authentic joy. In short, FPC is not a ‘stage church’, we’re an altar Church.
- If you’re looking for a church where you’ll be “fed spiritually”, FPC Plano may not be for you. FPC Plano is more like a ‘community food pantry’ than a cafeteria or restaurant. You’ll find all the ingredients to nourish and grow your spiritual life – Scripture, Prayer, Biblical teaching, Incredible Music, Meaningful Worship, Service and Mission Opportunities, and much more. All the ingredients will be yours for the taking, but you’ll have to prepare the meals yourself, and make no mistake, that’s the kind of spiritual nourishment that really satisfies!
- If you’re looking for a church that will tell you what to believe so you don’t have to think about it, well, FPC Plano is probably not for you. At FPC Plano, we welcome questions, and we’re not so arrogant as to think that ‘our way is the only way’, and that ‘we’ve got it all figured out’. Think about it, there are over 25,000 Christian Seminaries in the world, all studying hard to figure out God, and still…
- If you’re looking for a church with policies that restrict the actions and ministry of women, well, FPC Plano is probably not for you. We honor and respect all the gifts of God, regardless of who the Holy Spirit chooses to call into service and ministry.
- If you’re looking for a church with members that look and act like you, FPC Plano may be challenging for you at first. We love and respect every person that God sends our way, regardless of past decisions, lifestyle choices, socio-economic status, race or any other category that divides our society. We are all God’s children, and all God’s children are welcome at FPC Plano.
- Finally, if you’re looking for a ‘perfect’ church, FPC Plano may not be for you. We are a Christian fellowship with the goal of sharing God’s love as The Clothing Church, but we are also a humble group of people doing our best to love Christ and serve God’s creation.
If you have a Church home, our prayer at FPC Plano is that you serve God and your community to the best of your ability, and we thank God for all the great Churches in the Plano area. But if you’re looking to ‘get back into church’, kickstart your faith journey, or you just need a safe place to go and rest, heal, and maybe even worship God – FPC Plano may be right for you. Join us at 11:15am on Sunday mornings, and I guarantee you will be accepted and loved. You will not be judged, and your value will not be determined by what you have to offer the Church, but instead you will be offered the peace and love of Jesus Christ, by a group of ragtag folks that truly believe that’s the way it should be, on earth as it is in Heaven.
