Dr. Joseph Parker

Dr. Parker came to serve as the Pastor of FPC/Plano in June of 2001, after serving 10 years as Executive Minister at Highland Park Presbyterian Church. He is a graduate of Union Seminary in Virginia and has completed a Masters of Arts in Counseling and requirements for licensure as a therapist; additionally he earned his MBA in 1999, and has completed the Graduate Certification program at SMU in Alternative Dispute Resolution (2003) Dr. Parker is a member of the adjunct staff at Amberton University, serves as a consultant to various organizations and churches throughout Texas, and regularly provides counseling to individuals and couples within the Dallas/Plano area.

  Director of Children’s Education
Heidi Saylor

Heidi Saylor is a Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor with the state of Texas. In 2005, Heidi joined the FPC staff as the Director of Children’s Education. Heidi strives to help make the stories of Christ come to life for the children as they grow in their understanding of their place within a Christian community, experiencing the Love of God and the joy of faith. Heidi also works for Family Compass as a Program Director for the Growing as Parents program in Dallas. Her passion is for helping children and their parents learn to live together in harmony and to grow together in love.

Youth Sponsors
Ted & Nancy McKown

Nancy and Ted have been volunteer youth leaders at First Presbyterian Plano since joining the church in 1994. Their philosophy is that they want to create a safe and nurturing place where the youth can grow in their faith through a balanced program of Bible study, mission and service, fun and fellowship, as well as providing opportunities where youth can network with other Christian youth.

Nancy and Ted met at the University of Tulsa and were married in 1978. They served as volunteer youth leaders at College Hill Presbyterian, in Tulsa, OK, from 1979 to 1993 before coming to Plano. They have two children, a son, Neil, and a daughter, Leslie. Nancy is a manager of centralized data integrity at Texas Health System, Dallas. Ted is a special education teacher with the Plano Independent School District.

  Choir Director
Linda Pease

Linda Pease holds a B. A. in Music Education with a concentration in Voice from Dallas Baptist University. Before retiring in 2010, she taught in The Wylie Independent School District including music for sixteen years, and she conducted the Wylie High School Choir for several years. Prior music work at FPC Plano includes Director of Children’s Choirs from 1989 -2000. For nine consecutive years, she served as co-director of Presbytery Music Camps. Linda is both thrilled and humbled to be on the other side of the choir experience as a conductor after so many years of singing in the FPC Chancel Choir.

Roseleaf Reed

Roseleaf Reed was very fortunate in having three wonderful teachers who developed her talents, and twenty years after high school, she attended Palomar College in North San Diego where she received her A.A. Degree. Her organ teacher was James Weld, and for one quarter Roseleaf attended Point Loma College which is a private Nazarene College in San Diego; her organ teacher there was Brett Hauser.

In the late 70s, Roseleaf received her Colleague Degree from the Organists’ Guild. In 1984 she was Dean of the American Guild of Organists, Palomar chapter. Roseleaf continues to enjoy her ministry of music and feels blessed to be the organist at First Presbyterian Church of Plano. She also enjoys her wonderful family and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

  Church Secretary
Lynne Schapeler

Lynne Schapeler became a member of FPC/Plano in 1978 and has been the church secretary for 29 years. For Lynne, this is more than a job…it is a ministry for Lynne and her second home. First Presbyterian Church of Plano is truly the best place to be…working and worshipping for and with her church family. Lynne and her husband, Stan, have been married for 44 years; they lived in Missouri and Kansas before moving to Texas in 1978. They have two sons and “daughters”; Brett & Angela, and Brian & Angie and two grandchildren, Brenden and Hanna.
